Auction - Sunday
August 13, 2006 - Postscript
Sunday August 13
provided another successful
sale with some spectacular results. 126 floor bidders and over 400
postal bidders went into battle and over 90% of the auction was
sold. Although this was a very diverse auction, no section of
material was neglected or under sold.
The 20 Mystery lots
at the beginning set the pace, selling cumulatively for over $11,000.
The general Collection and Accumulation section up to Lot 299
fetched over $100,000.
Stand-out prices were
achieved for Kangaroos and selected
Australian Commonwealth
varieties and
these prices, some of which are illustrated overleaf confirm the
outstanding demand both within Australia and overseas for fine
and rare items.
Total hammer price for all
lots sold was over $500,000 (not including 10% buyer’s commission
or GST where applicable).
Attractive commission rates,
a well illustrated colour catalogue with a distribution of 3000
(including approximately 1500 overseas), a strong floor and realistic
estimates all combined to achieve outstanding results.
The realisations justify the
confidence of the 86 vendors who sent me their philatelic treasures to
sell on their behalf.
To those bidders who were
not successful I extend my commiserations. Please be assured that your
participation is very important and I hope you have more success next
time!
If you are considering
selling your collection I am always in the market for accumulations,
collections, scarce and unusual individual items and sets, as well as
postal history and postal stationery. |
