SELLING ?
Participate as a Vendor in one of my Auctions!
Selling your collection is a serious business. So how much should you give the auctioneer? Most auction houses charge 15% + 15%. This means for every $100 sold, the buyer pays $115, you get $85 and the auctioneer gets $30! This is over one third the value of your lifetime investment, so are you really getting value for money?
If you consign through me you are charged 10% and the Buyer is charged 10% but you also get the following:
1. Access to a mailing list of 3000 collectors around the world who receive a profusely illustrated colour catalogue. (Most auctions have a relatively narrow customer base comprising resellers and specialist collectors. However, in addition as a retail dealer I also include that all important group of active stamp collectors which greatly broadens the base of my list) 2. An 80%-95% sale rate. A floor attendance of 100-120, with around 500 postal bidders. [Sydney and Melbourne are glutted with stamp auctions – I never cease to be amazed at the low floor attendances, sometimes down to 10 (!) and often very low sale rates, down to 40%!] 3. I own the auction. I run the auction. It is not a vehicle for an inflated ego, but one which puts your interests first, both as a seller and a buyer. 4. Collections and Accumulations are a sell out which means that all collectors, whether rich or poor can participate with confidence. This is important, because in the final wash up it is the auction that gets the best prices for the bottom half of your collection (as well as the top half) that makes the difference. 5. My ability to achieve outstanding prices is well known and a number of front cover items in the past few years have exceeded the price realised for similar items in Sydney, Melbourne and overseas. Already a number of fine items have been received and I have illustrated some of these on the reverse. Most have come from Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. 6. If you are considering consigning material it would be best to submit as soon as possible. Consignments can be sent, up to when we finalise the catalogue ready to go to the printers, which should be around May 15. Consignments ideally should be $500 or above and individual lots should have a value of approximately $100 or more.
I look forward to hearing from you.
